A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Martha Jane Brazy joined the History Department
faculty late last century. Her research focuses on nineteenth-century U.S. social
history with an emphasis on the African-American history, slavery, the 老司机福利网 and multicultural
women's history in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. While at USA, Professor
Brazy has taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses: both halves of the
U.S. History survey, African-American Experiences, the Historical Roots of Contemporary
Issues, the History of American Feminist Movements, African-American Women's History,
and Slavery in the U.S. Graduate Seminars include Slavery in the U.S. as well as American
Historiography. Her current research explores the life of the late African-American
poet, social critic, and activist, June Jordan. Professor Brazy is also compiling
a collection of slave women's narratives.
