Teach-In to Highlight Democracy Day

The 老司机福利网 College of Arts and Sciences and the Dean of Students office invite the USA community to participate in a teach-in on 鈥淲e Are 老司机福利网: Democracy Day,鈥 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17 at the Student Center Plaza/Amphitheater. If there鈥檚 inclement weather, the free event will be held in the Student Center.
The discussion will focus on democracy and its role in the academic and larger community.
鈥淭his is slated to be an exciting conversation for our campus community,鈥 said Dr. Martha Jane Brazy, associate professor of history. 鈥淭here will be a welcome and opening remarks before the participants will be invited to share during roundtable breakout sessions on a variety of topics about democracy.鈥
Participants at each roundtable are invited to share their thoughts and ideas during the breakout sessions which will last 30 minutes. The discussions will be led by students and faculty. Faculty co-facilitators will be present to keep the discussions on topic and ensure that discussions are respectful. After the conclusion of the roundtable breakout sessions, participants will come together and share final thoughts about the conversations and dialogue.
鈥淭he teach-in will culminate with a short on-campus march in support of dialogue, diversity, engagement and global democracy,鈥 Brazy noted.

- The Bill of Rights
- Diversity in a Democratic Society
- Education and Democracy
- Immigration and Policy
- Historical Nativism and Democracy
- Freedom of Speech
- Media and Democracy
- Reproductive Rights and Democracy
- Gender and Democracy
- Un-written Freedoms: Right to Privacy, the Right to Free Movement
