The USA Health Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship in Mobile, Alabama, is a one-year ACGME-accredited program open to physicians who have completed residency training in pediatrics, emergency medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, med-peds or family medicine. We accept one fellow per year through the Sports Medicine match.
Fellows will receive training in the diagnosis and treatment of all musculoskeletal injuries, common illnesses seen in athletes and concussions through a variety of experiences.
Fellows will care for athletes at the high school and Division I and II collegiate level at sporting events, and for local endurance and performing arts events, working closely with athletic training staff and supervised by sports medicine physicians and orthopaedic surgery attendings. Our department currently acts as team doctors for the ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÍø, Spring Hill College, Mobile County Public Schools and Mobile Ballet. Fellows also will participate in medical coverage for the area’s only concussion center and for local endurance events.
In the clinical setting, fellows will learn advanced diagnostic and interventional skills using ultrasound as well as ultrasound-guided procedures. Our clinics also provide platelet-rich plasma injections and nerve ablation procedures.
Completion of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship offers the privilege of sitting for the Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine.
