School of Computing Scholarship Opportunities

The School of Computing has many departmental scholarship opportunities to offer our students. All of our scholarships may be added on top of any general University scholarships such as Presidential or Bay Area.

â–¼   Scholarship for Service
The Scholarship For Service program provides scholarship funds in exchange for service in the federal government in Information Assurance related jobs for a period equivalent to the length of the scholarship, typically two or three years. The SFS program is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and co-sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Only US citizens and permanent residents are eligible. â–¼   SoC Military Scholarship
Offered to veterans, active duty military personnel or active reservists who join the School of Computing upon initial enrollment at USA. These scholarships are available to Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine, and Coast Guard members. Qualified students would have served or be serving our country. Students who have left the service would need to have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for these awards. Students with a composite ACT score of 24 or higher will be considered for these scholarships. The Scholarships range in amounts up to $5,000. Application deadline: April 1.
â–¼    Outstanding Student Scholarship
Offered to SoC incoming freshman with a composite ACT of 29 or higher OR a composite ACT of 27 or higher and earning a specialized diploma such as Honor's, IB, or Epic. These scholarships range in amount from $2,500 to $5000. Application deadline; December 1.
â–¼   ASMS Student Scholarship
Offered to students who graduate from the Alabama School of Math and Science and enroll as first time freshmen at USA in the SoC for fall semester. Students with a composite ACT score of 27 or higher will be considered for these scholarships. The scholarships range in amounts from $5,000 to $7,000. Application deadline: April 1.
â–¼   Incoming Freshman Scholarships
Incoming freshmen to the SoC with a composite ACT of 24 or higher can apply for a variety of endowed scholarships including: Barnett Scholarship, Freshmen Henderson Scholarship, Wilkins Scholarship, Feinstein Scholarship, and the Advisory Board Scholarship. Completing one application will make the student eligible for consideration for each of these scholarships which range in amounts from $500 to $5,000. Application deadline; April 1.
â–¼   Current SoC Student Scholarships
Current School of Computing students may apply to be considered for several endowed scholarships that are awarded at the Spring Celebration each year for the following academic year. These include:
  • Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) Scholarship
  • Henderson Scholarships for Sophomore/Junior/Senior
  • Daigle/Gradle Scholarship in Information Systems
  • Campbell Scholarship

The qualifications for each scholarship vary. Interested students may apply using the JagSPOT system. The application deadline to April 1.

â–¼    ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÍø Scholarships 
 The ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÍø has one of the most comprehensive scholarship programs in Alabama and offers excellent opportunities to entering freshmen. The majority of USA students use a combination of scholarships, grants and loans
â–¼    Transfer Student Scholarships 
 Offered to students joining the SoC by transferring 60 or more hours in from another institution. Award amount dependent on student's transferred GPA. Minimum GPA required for consideration is 3.0. Application deadline; April 1
â–¼   Legacy Student Scholarship
Offered to students will be second generation SoC students; i.e. students who had one or both parents graduate with a degree from the SoC (formerly known as the School of Computer and Information Sciences). Qualified students must enroll as first time freshmen at USA in the SoC for fall semester. Students with a composite ACT score of 24 or higher will be considered for these scholarships. The scholarships range in amounts from $2,500 to $5,000. Application deadline: April 1.
