Applicants are responsible for providing their recommenders with materials, instructions, and deadline required for proper submission.
Conditional upon acceptance into the program, BSW majors are required to declare a minor.
When preparing to complete the BSW application, please consider which minor you might want to declare. Most BSW students opt for a minor in Sociology, as many of the upper-division Social Work curriculum requirements also fulfill the Sociology minor requirements. However, social work majors may choose to minor in any discipline offered at USA. Click here to view a list of minors offered at USA.
Whatever you decide, having a minor in mind will help streamline the application process and ensure that you are ready to provide this information when prompted on BSW application.
Upon acceptance into the Social Work Program, your major and minor will be updated administratively.
Once you have completed the steps above, you are ready to complete the USA Bachelor of Social Work Electronic Application!
Tip: Have your Unofficial Academic Transcript, Resume, and your Personal Statement ready to upload before beginning the electronic application. It may help to add these documents to their own folder on your computer, so they are all in one place!
Bachelor of Social Work Admissions Policy
Students who want to major in social work are admitted to the pre-professional social work major, where they remain until they meet requirements to be admitted into the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) major. Prior to entering the major, please consider consulting with a pre-professional social work advisor from Academic Advising and Transfer Services at the earliest opportunity.
Admission to the ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÍø Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program requires the completion and submission of the electronic application. Students who meet the minimum requirements are not guaranteed admission into the social work major. The application process is competitive and dependent upon space available. The admissions policy is applicable to all students: new freshmen, transfer students, students seeking a second bachelor’s degree, and students changing their major. Transfer students must apply for admission and be accepted to the ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÍø before applying to the Bachelor of Social Work program.
